Evaluation  Currently Unavailable Due to COVID-19 Pandemic
Comprehensive psychological and educational evaluations are available for children and adolescents. Evaluations are individualized based upon presenting issues or difficulties. Typically, evaluations include parent and teacher interviews, child observation and interview, questionnaires, and direct assessment. I conduct strength-based evaluations and make recommendations that capitalize on the child's abilities, in addition to identifying areas of weakness/need for intervention.

Targeted Assessment
Specific testing may be requested for progress monitoring/response to intervention, re-evaluation, or private school admission requirements.

Behavioral Consultation & Parenting

As parents, we have all experienced challenging behaviors from our children. Sometimes, these behaviors become so intense and frequent, that outside consultation and behavioral intervention is necessary. Behavior consultation includes home-based observation and interview, collaborative behavior planning, and intervention monitoring. Behavior consultation may be beneficial for parents of children with any ability or diagnosis.

My approach to behavior consultation is to collaborate with parents/caregivers in order to develop an effective and feasible intervention plan. Through interview and observation, the function of the behaviors is determined so that a targeted intervention plan can be designed. Intervention strategies are learned and initially implemented through modeling, coaching, and discussion/feedback.

 Individual Counseling--FULL for 2020-21

Child and adolescent cognitive-behavioral therapy has demonstrated good outcomes for a variety of childhood distress and disorders. Often, clients respond to brief, solution-focused strategies; however, therapy is designed to meet individual needs and preferences.  My work with children and adolescents focuses on helping them develop coping strategies in order to deal with difficult and/or stressful situations, identifying inaccurate thoughts and increasing positive attitudes.

The effectiveness of child and adolescent therapy is improved through parent participation. Parents are expected to be involved in the therapeutic process.

Groups  Currently Unavailable Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

Child and adolescent groups are an important venue to learn and practice skills and develop supportive relationships. I offer social skills training including friendship skills, interaction initiation, conflict management, and emotion regulation training. Group composition is designed to enhance and complement skills of the participants.

Parent groups are also available. These groups focus on increasing parenting competence, use of positive behavioral support and appropriate discipline strategies, increasing parent-child relationships and decreasing challenging behaviors.

Please see current group offerings here or contact me for more details and/or waitlist information.
